![]() The Membership Commitment
If you can affirm your faith in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, and can affirm the mission and goals of this congregation, we would gladly welcome you as a member of this church family.
When joining First Methodist, the minister will ask:
- “Do you affirm or reaffirm Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior?” - “Do you desire to live out your commitment to Jesus Christ through a commitment to this church by your prayers, presence, gifts, service and
your witness?
New members may be received by...
Baptism and Profession of Faith – If you have never made a profession of faith and joined a church as a youth or an adult, you would join by profession of faith. If you have not been baptized, you will be baptized at this time. If you have been baptized as a child, youth or adult at another Christian church, we accept that as valid.
Transfer – Persons who have been baptized and have previously joined another church are welcome to become members by transfer (for United Methodists) or other denomination (for persons from other Christian denominations). We will notify your former church that you have united with our congregation.
Reaffirmation of Faith – Persons who have made a profession of faith previously, but who would like to reaffirm that experience may do so, and may join by either Profession of Faith or by Transfer.
New members may join the church at the end of any worship service or during one of our monthly New Member Receptions in the Senior Minister's Office.
